Guest Review
Excerpts—
We have been traveling for six months and stayed in places all over the world. Alby Lodge was a true highlight and we kept extending our stay because... The cabins were perfectly designed; the screens kept out unwanted "guests" and let in cool breezes, the mosquito nets, the hooks made from driftwood, the porch, the communal kitchen area and the manicured grounds. Falling asleep to waves brushing up against the shore and waking up to monkeys jumping from tree to tree made this experience so unique. We saw more in Yvonne and Thomas' garden than in the national park!

The location was perfect, just outside the national park entrance. We had howler monkeys in the trees just outside our cabin. There are signs directing you down a dirt driveway to the lodge, otherwise you would never stumble across it. It’s a quick walk to town where there are several great restaurants and bars.

We stayed two nights in this beautiful lodge/cabinas. We had a very nice Cabana, probably the most beautiful / romantic one we had in CR, all in cozy and shiny wood and tastefully decorated. It is located in a beautiful garden and the room is spacious, very lofty (high roof and one window to terrace could be opened completely) so it is quite cool/fresh, even when its hot outside (we did not need fan), and the bed as well as windows had a mosquito net. … The location is very good: it is close in very short (2 min) to the Village center, but really calm and quiet and very close to the national park / beach (Playa Blanca). In total: a perfect place to stay, when you are in Cahuita, we would go there again.

We stayed there for a week in 2011 and again in 2014. Both times Alby Lodge was the highlight of our trip. The cabins are rustic but clean and charming. The grounds are beautiful. Yvonne and Thomas are gracious and helpful hosts. There is a resident sloth and a troop of monkeys on hand. The cabins are a three-minute walk from Cahuita’s restaurants and shops and from the national park and ocean but far enough from town that it is quiet. Highly recommended!

We stayed 3 nights on Alby Lodge. This is probably one of the best deals in Costa Rica. There are only 4 cabinas but all were built with great care and look really stylish. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean. All are equipped with fan and mosquito net. We only used the fan during the day. At night the temperature drops to relatively comfortable levels and you can do without the fan.
...............................................
The cabins are very conveniently located to the village center and beach but still feel removed and quiet since they are located at the edge of the Cahuita National Park. That translates into "many wild animals and plants on the large spacious premises". … The build quality of the cabins is top notch. … Very airy and clean with all the amenities a nature loving traveler’s needs. Yvonne and Thomas are gracious hosts that are very helpful in exploring the area in and around Cahuita.

Wonderful property with beautiful gardens and the largest tree I have ever seen. We could not even see the top of the tree and the base of the tree is about the size of my bedroom. There were only 2 of us so we just rented the one cabina but I think this would be a great spot to host a family reunion. There are 4 cabinas in total and the central kitchen would make a great spot to host communal dinners for a family reunion. We would definitely come back and rent from Thomas and Yvonne again.
